CosmoPBX Live CD 1.0 has just released - 23-02-2007

This is the first stable version of installable CosmoPBX Live CD. This version has several performance enhancements as well as some bug fixes. This version of CosmoPBX Live CD can be installed to local hard disk with simple installation wizard. Feel free to report bugs and feature requests to sourceforge forums and trackers.

  1. What is CosmoPBX?
    CosmoPBX is Linux live CD based on Knoppix Linux. CosmoPBX is released as open source under the GNU General Public License (GPL) and is available for download free of charge.

  2. What are the hardware requirements to use CosmoPBX?
    • Pentium-class processor, preferably 300MHz+
    • 64MB RAM minimum, 256MB recommended
    • CD ROM Drive
    • (of course) a CosmoPBX CD

  3. Do I need a hard disk to use CosmoPBX?
    No. It is not necessary to have a hard drive to use CosmoPBX Live CD. But if you plan to install it on your system then you definitely need a hard disk.

  4. How do I use CosmoPBX?
    Using CosmoPBX Live CD is very easy. Follow these simple steps to start using CosmoPBX Live CD.
    1. Download the iso image
    2. Burn the image on CD
    3. Boot from CD(You may have to change BIOS settings to boot from CD.)
    You can get PBX up and running in two minutes. :)

  5. Can I install CosmoPBX in my hard disk?
    Yes, you can install CosmoPBX on your hard disk. Please refer CosmoPBX installation documentation here.

  6. Is there any graphical environment in CosmoPBX?
    No, CosmoPBX comes in text mode only to improve performance of the server. If you wish, you can install the desired graphical desktop manager by "apt-get" command but it is not recommended.

  7. How do I configure Asterisk?
    CosmoPBX is bundled with Latest Asterisk 1.4 and Asterisk-GUI beta. You can configure asterisk from web based interface of Asterisk-GUI from web browser. Use following urls to access Asterisk GUI configuration tool. http://[YOUR IP HERE]:8088/static/config/cfgbasic.html (For basic configuration) http://[YOUR IP HERE]:8088/static/config/cfgadvanced.html (For advanced configuration)
